WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar today was sworn in to the 113^th Congress. This is her second term in the U.S. Senate. Klobuchar was joined at the Capitol by Vice President Walter Mondale, her family, and many Minnesotans.

“I have always approached my job with one simple value: putting the people of Minnesota first,” said Klobuchar. “To solve our nation’s toughest challenges we must stand together and renew our commitment to our country and our faith in America by renewingour economy, our democracy and our Congress, and I will continue to work to find common ground and commonsense solutions to move this country forward.”

“Amy approaches every challenge—no matter how large or small—with a clear vision, a consistent voice, and the courage to reach across the aisle and get the job done,” Vice President Walter Mondale said.“She is a worker and she is a fighter and that is exactly the kind of senator that Minnesotans deserve.”

Klobuchar serves on the Senate Agriculture Committee, the Judiciary Committee, the Commerce Committee and the Joint Economic Committee. She also chairs the Senate Subcommittee on Competitiveness, Innovation, and Export Promotion, which works to advance a competitive agenda to move America forward. Klobuchar was the first woman elected to the Senate from Minnesota and formerly served as Hennepin County Attorney.
